8/8/09 Well BFA had our Business After Hours party and we had so much fun I forgot to take any pictures. It was a great success! We had Chamber members and non chamber businesses. We had over 45 people to attend from the local area and business owners. A great time was had by all! Everyone got to see what we do here at Blue Frog thanks to Gracie, Katelyn, Kyle, Nicki and Gail who came and painted for everyone to watch. I also wanted to thank Lynette for setting up all of her projects she has done over the last year and explaining all the great things we have to offer here at BFA, Thanks to Bobbie for helping with the front table and passing out the tastes of Nopalea to everyone. Thanks to Linda for manning the drink table and to Allie for helping to clean and set up. We had a lot of people leave their business cards in our new area set up just for that.  Still playing with the Fashen hues paints and liking them more and more. They are a type of translucent paints called FashENhues and can create some really interesting effects.  When you come in ask to try the new colors. I really would like your opinions to decide whether to make them a permanent addition. Ask me about them and give em a try!

Blue Frog is now offering Custom ceramic painting for special occasions, weddings, showers, birthdays, anniversery. If you don't have the time to paint it your self we can help.

The Senior Center using part of the Grassroots Art Grant came and painted plates as part of their project. There will be a reception and show at Athens Tech starting Monday May 4th at 10:30am.

Elbert Counties newly formed ABC's (Art for a Better Community) will be having thier exhibit of pysanky eggs created by the kids on May 16th from 10am to 2pm at Blue Frog Arts. This is the first arts club here in Elberton with the 4H. It was formed with the help of the Grassroots Art program. Thanks to our Senators and Congressmen who realise the importance of art for young children in helping to develop creativity and confidance.
By the way the Congratulations to "The Granite city Source" which is published by Blue Frog. It is now putting out 2250 copies per month in Elberton and surrounding communities. 


"CASTABLES ARE HERE!"

What are Castables?
Castables are just like they sound, You or your child (or both) can take a figurine from beginning to end for only $14.95. It's a great project for Girl or Boy Scouts troups. It teaches the process of casting a piece of ceramic. During this stage the figures can be altered. The pumpking can be carved and later have a light put inside. Texture can be added to the animals. We have nine different designs to choose from! Come on in today and give them a try!

Some of you with small kids who may not be too sure about the breakage factor with your child. Now you can take your ceramics home! Soon you will be able to pick out what you like at a discount, purchase the paints and brushes, sit at your kitchen table (with or without the kids) and go for the fun! Have the neighborhood kids in or just let it be your quiet time. When your finished your works of art you can have them fired for a minimal fee. This will be great for school teachers, Sunday school, home schoolers, young moms. Anyone who wants to paint but can't come in to do it.

2/7/10 One of the fun things I get to do as the owner of a ceramics shop is usually 2 times a year Last weekend I attended a Camp (even sounds fun) in Atlanta and got lots of great ideas for new things to paint and new techniques. Update on Working for Grants (Got them!) - Both The Foster and Adoptive Parents and The 4H  groups in Elberton received  grants from the GAP The Foster And Adoptive Parents Association received $600 which was what they asked for and the 4H received $1000 about 1/2 of the asked for amount but both groups where very happy and BFA is looking forward to working with them to get art programs started. BFA is proud to have helped in bringing this money for the arts in Elbert County. These grants will help these groups in providing art programs for kids that really can use them!

4H ABC group has now had 3 pysanky classes and are learning how to pick out and make their own eggs, some of the kids have even made their own at home!
New Sign! We now have a sign. So I guess we are official. We are very pleased and Skeeter's Designs did a great job!

Now Making Copies! Granite City Source which is published by Blue Frog Arts and contains our new schedule each month, and offers affordable advertising for small businesses is now making copies for just 10 cents each (any amount) and only 35 cents for full color copies on plain paper. We can also make small stapled booklets for special occasions.
